Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival Tour

Enjoy visiting the unique Dochula Druk Wangyel festival performed by the Royal Bhutan Army rather than monks or locals. The festival was commission by a Queen mother, Azhi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, in 2011. It is a tribute to the wise leadership of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth king of Bhutan, and celebrating the continuous effort of the Royal Bhutan Army in protecting the sovereignty and the stability of the country. The soldiers were given training in folk and mask dances for three months. Our insightful representatives will sight you with legendary history on your journey. Paro, Punakha & Paro

Day 1 Paro – Thimphu

Enjoy the spectacular view of Himalayan ranges on your flight to Bhutan and a drive to the capital city of Thimphu through the beautiful landscapes following the Paro chu and Thimphu Chu. Make a stop at Tachog Lhakhang, built by legendary bridge-builder Thangtong Gyelpo. After a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, the Buddha Dordenma statue giantly sits atop the hills overlooking the Thimphu valley. Visit charming Thimphu city before you leave for the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 Explore Thimphu

Start your day visiting the National Takin preserve center, followed by the Heritage Museum, built to connect people to the Bhutanese rural past through an exhibition of artifacts used in a rural household. Then, visit the textile museum and the traditional paper factory. Finally, visit the centenary farmers market, and to majestic Thimphu Tashichho dzong, seats for some ministries, His majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body before you leave the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 Thimphu – Punakha

Unfold your day visiting the oldest changangkha Lhakhang, famous for getting auspicious names for newborn babies and blessings for the children. Then, drive to magical Punakha valley. Stopover at Dochula pass to enjoy the panoramic view of Himalayan ranges and the beautiful sights of 108 stupas. Finally, visit the famous fertility temple located at the hilltop on your way to Punakha valley. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 Explore Punakha

Begin your day by visiting the majestic Punakha Dzong, beautifully built at the confluence of two rivers and the longest suspension bridge of the valley adorned with colorful prayer flags. Next, hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, built by Queen mother, is a classic example of Bhutanese architect and arts. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley from the top. Retrace your walk to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 Punakha – Dochula Festival – Paro

Retrace the journey back to Dochula, pass early in the morning, and witness the festival with locals. Thousands of people will gather at the place to see the festival. Spend your time seeing your best to enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of Himalayan ranges. Then, continue your journey back to Paro valley, enjoying the scenic drive through the beautiful landscapes. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 Explore Paro

Unfold your day visiting the oldest 7th-century Kyichu Monastery, built by the Tibetan emperor, Dumtse Lhakhang. Visit majestic Paro Rinpong Dzong and National museum, visit Drukgyel Dzong, the fortress of victory. Then, explore Paro town decorated with lots of local handicrafts. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7 Explore Paro

Hike to famous Takshang monastery stands on a sheer cliff with an elevation of 3000 m. Discover the legendary history and meditate for a while. Then, walk back and visit the oldest Kyichu, Lhakhang. One of the 108 sites established by the Tibetan Emperor in the 7th century, Spend some time in the beautiful Paro town with our representatives. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8 Departure

Today, our representatives will escort you to the Paro international airport for your departure.
